Did the smart set smite Ogden Nash?
This verse is light and stale. Confused, some stop
here (as if I won’t compose again after
scrunched faces of derision).
This verse is white and male. Judging, some stop
here (as if I were easily a handsome
Cyrano or a decisive Hamlet).
Like an angry child, I press hard
pen to page and simply satirize,
not knowing if I’ll speak to them
or have another heart-to-heart with
myself.
Said Oggie to me in a moment I laughed alone: give ‘em the finger.
